CPL Operation, Performance & Flight Planning (CFPA)

March 5, 2026 @ 9:00 am - March 23, 2026 @ 5:00 pm

Course Description

The CPL Operation, Performance and Flight Planning (CFPA) course is specifically designed for aspiring commercial pilots who are pursuing a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and seeking to enhance their understanding of operational procedures, aircraft performance, and flight planning techniques.

This comprehensive course equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively plan and execute flights in a professional aviation environment. The course curriculum covers a wide range of topics, combining theoretical concepts with practical applications, enabling students to develop a solid foundation in CPL operations.

Key areas of focus within the CFPA course include:

  1. Aircraft Performance: Students will gain an in-depth understanding of aircraft performance parameters, including takeoff and landing distances, climb performance, cruise performance, and fuel consumption. They will explore factors affecting aircraft performance, such as weight and balance, temperature, altitude, and runway conditions.
  2. Operational Procedures: This section covers essential operational procedures for commercial pilots. Students will learn about pre-flight inspections, aircraft systems, flight deck management, communication protocols, crew resource management, emergency procedures, and handling abnormal situations.
  3. Flight Planning: Students will acquire the necessary skills to plan and prepare flight operations effectively. They will learn to interpret weather charts, analyze meteorological data, assess NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen), and calculate fuel requirements. The course will also cover route selection, air traffic control considerations, and flight plan filing procedures.
  4. Navigation Systems and Instruments: This module focuses on the various navigation systems and instruments used in modern aviation. Students will learn to use radio navigation aids, GPS (Global Positioning System), and electronic flight instruments. They will also explore the principles of instrument flight and the use of charts and publications for navigation.
  5. Performance-based Navigation (PBN): PBN is becoming increasingly prevalent in aviation. Students will study the concepts and procedures associated with PBN, including Area Navigation (RNAV) and Required Navigation Performance (RNP). They will understand the benefits of PBN and its impact on flight planning and operations.

Throughout the course, students will engage in practical exercises, case studies, and simulations to reinforce their understanding of operational procedures, aircraft performance, and flight planning techniques. They will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge through realistic scenarios and simulated flight missions.
