AVI60219 ADVANCED DIPLOMA OF AVIATION

Pilot in Command

For over one hundred years, the Royal Victorian Aero Club has been a leader in flight training. We offer the latest training technologies and a diverse fleet of aircraft to take you through the key stages of your aviation flight training and prepare you for the next stage of your career.

The AVI60219 Advanced Diploma of Aviation is designed for those wanting to fulfill their dream of working for a major commercial airline. It specially covers the requirements for holding an Airline Transport Licence (ATPL) and the additional skills and competencies required for working in a multi-crew aircraft. The course is open for those that already hold both a Commercial Pilots Licence and a Multi-Engine Instrument Rating.

What’s involved?

The course is available for Commercial Pilot Licence holders who hold a Multi-Engine Instrument Rating. The course will build upon your knowledge learned as part of both of the prior courses (Commercial Pilots Licence & Instrument Rating) and provide you with skills and competencies needed to work in a multi-crew aircraft. Successful completion of the course will provide you with an Airline Transport Licence, a requirement for working in a major commercial airline carrying passengers.

Loans are available through RVAC for eligible students.

During the course you will build on the knowledge from your Commercial Pilots Licence and need to study and complete 7 ATPL theory exams. The subjects you will learn are:
• Manage aircraft planning and performance as a pilot in command
• Manage threat and errors as a pilot in command
• Maintain and manage situational awareness as pilot in command
• Identify and manage aviation risk
• Manage security procedures as pilot in command
• Supervise and manage safe flight operations as a pilot in command
• Manage human factors as pilot in command

Additionally, you will need to be able to command an aircraft in a
multi-crew aircraft.

Multi-crew training is required whenever crew are piloting an aircraft
in a multi-crew operation, which essentially makes it a mandatory
skill for any pilot working for a major commercial airline. The prime
objective of the Multi-Crew Coopeation (MCC) training is to ensure
both the pilot in command and co-pilot are capable of operating
effectively as a team. Multi-Crew Training is an essential component
to being awarded a multi crew pilot licence (MPL) and an ATPL. The
Multi-Crew component of the course will be taught in a high fidelity
simulator. The MCC training covers units of knowledge and practical
assessments that are used when pilots are part of a multi-crew
operation and is not specific to an aircraft type.

Portions of the course will be offered at Moorabbin and Airport
West
