Night VFR (A) Rating
All Courses » Night Visual Flight Rules (NVFR) Rating
Expand your horizons after dark.
The Night Visual Flight Rules (NVFR) Rating allows you to operate an aircraft at night under VFR conditions. This endorsement is ideal for private and commercial pilots looking to increase flexibility, enhance safety, and gain confidence in low-light environments.
Night flying offers a uniquely calm and scenic experience—but it also requires sharper awareness, refined instrument scanning, and specific navigation skills. Our NVFR course is designed to give you the techniques and confidence needed to safely and legally operate after sunset.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about our PPL Training Program.
Still have questions?
Do I need a CPL or IR to fly at night?
No. You can fly at night under VFR conditions with this rating on your RPL, PPL, or CPL.
Can I carry passengers at night with this rating?
Yes—if you meet the appropriate recency requirements, you may carry passengers on NVFR flights.
Is night flying safe?
Night VFR flying is very safe when properly trained and conducted. However, it does demand greater focus and reliance on instruments, which is why specialised training is essential.
Do I need to complete the full Instrument Rating to fly at night?
No. The NVFR rating is a separate qualification that allows night operations under visual flight rules only.
What kind of aircraft will I use for NVFR training?
You’ll fly IFR-capable and night-equipped aircraft such as the Cessna 172, Piper Warrior, or similar aircraft in our fleet.
