SUMMARY:Recreational Pilots Licence Theory (RPLA) - April 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Recreational Pilot’s License (RPL) Theory Course offered by the Royal Victorian Aero Club is an engaging and comprehensive program designed to equip aspiring pilots with the essential theoretical knowledge required to obtain their RPL in Australia. This course serves as a fundamental step towards pursuing recreational flying activities and further aviation training. \nCourse Content: \nAviation Regulations: Gain a thorough understanding of the aviation regulatory framework\, including airspace rules\, licensing requirements\, and operational limitations. \nMeteorology: Explore the principles of meteorology and learn how to interpret weather charts\, forecasts\, and aviation weather reports. Understand the impact of weather conditions on flight operations and develop skills in weather decision-making. \nNavigation: Acquire the skills to plan and execute flight routes\, using navigational aids\, charts\, and electronic navigation systems. Learn about airspace classifications\, radio communication procedures\, and flight planning techniques. \nAircraft Systems: Study the basic principles and functionality of aircraft systems\, including the powerplant\, flight controls\, electrical systems\, and instruments. Gain insights into pre-flight inspections and aircraft performance considerations. \nAerodynamics: Delve into the principles of flight\, including lift\, drag\, thrust\, and weight. Explore topics such as aircraft stability\, control surfaces\, and the effects of factors like altitude\, speed\, and weight on flight performance. \nHuman Factors: Understand the human element in aviation\, including human performance and limitations\, crew resource management\, situational awareness\, and decision-making processes. Learn to manage stress\, fatigue\, and other factors that can impact pilot performance. \nEmergency Procedures: Familiarize yourself with emergency situations that may arise during flight and learn appropriate response strategies. Study emergency communications\, evacuation procedures\, and the use of safety equipment. \nThe RPL Theory Course is delivered through a combination of engaging classroom lectures\, practical exercises\, and self-study materials. Highly experienced instructors\, with extensive aviation backgrounds\, will guide students through the course content\, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the subjects covered. Additionally\, students may have access to flight simulators and other training aids to enhance their learning experience. \nCourse Fees: Fees covers the course instruction\, learning materials\, and access to training facilities and practice exam questions. Please note that additional expenses\, such as textbooks and examination fees\, may apply. \nUpon successful completion of the RPL Theory Course\, students will be well-prepared to undertake the theory examination conducted by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) in Australia. Passing this examination is a crucial step towards obtaining the RPL and progressing to the practical flight training phase. \n  \nRequired Materials (not included in fee)\n\nBob Tait RPL/PPL Study Guide Volume 1 (available from Skylines)\nCurrent ERSA\nWriting materials\nLaptop\n\nFor any questions in relation to this course\, or if you would like to pay via PayID\, Bank Transfer or Cash\, please call our friendly staff on 03 8586 7777
