New Patron for Young Eagles Victoria Program

The Royal Victorian Aero Club is delighted to have RAAF Squadron Leader Tim "Slops" Alsop as the Patron of our Young Eagles Victoria program.

Sqn Ldr Alsop commenced his flying training at the Royal Victorian Aero Club.Squadron Leader Tim Alsop started his aviation career flying gliders in Benalla, aged 16. A year later, he was awarded the Sir Reginald Ansett Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Royal Victorian Aero Club; this not only helped him to gain his Private Pilots' License, but marked the start of a long association with the club.
The love of flying Tim developed in these early years prompted him to join the RAAF as a pilot in 1993, where he has flown F/A-18, Hawk 127, PC-9/A and Macchi 326H aircraft. In 2009, Tim served with Australian ground forces in Afghanistan and is currently completing 'Advanced Command and Staff College' and a Masters of Arts in the United Kingdom.

The club is very proud to have Tim helping to share the aviation experience with young people in Australia. We hope to see Tim at the club at some stage soon.
